In September we took a trip from Rohnert Park north to visit my Sister Shirley and her Husband Frank. We spent the first night (Sept 17th) in Grants Pass Oregon. The next night (the 18th) we spent with Margie's cousin Emmy and her husband Daniel near where he is stationed in Ft. Lewis Washington. On the 19th we finally reached my sisters house in Sequim Washington. The next day Margie, Shirley, Frank and myself boarded the Coho Ferry and traveled up to Victoria BC. On the 21st we went to "Butchart Gardens" and then took the afternoon ferry back to Port Angeles and Sequim. We spent one more night with my sister and then on the 22nd we drove down to Kent Washington to spend 2 nights with our close friend Imelda. Imelda introduced me to Margie back in 1998. We had a great time in Kent and even ran into Margie's cousin Melina who we had lost contact with several years ago. From Kent we drove to Orofino Idaho on the 24th. We spent the afternoon and evening with my buddy Cliff and his kids and grand kids. On the 25th we made it to Boise to spend two nights with our friends from Dumaguete City, Cyril and Charito. The second night we were there we all had dinner at an all you can eat place named "CHUCK A RAMA". We got our old friends Gary and Pattie from Lake County in California to have dinner with us. Gary and Pattie live in Nampa Idaho. (see the story below this first set of pictures) |

During dinner with Cyril, Charito, Gary and Pattie, Gary convinced us to have breakfast with him and Pattie in Nampa on our way out of town. They reasoned that we were only driving as far as Winnemucca Nevada and that it would only take us 4 hours to get there. On the morning of the 27th of September we had breakfast in a really nice little coffee shop in Nampa Idaho. We really enjoyed breakfast. As we left the restaurant and headed back to our car we passed a small Real Estate office next door.. We made the mistake of looking in the window at the pretty pictures there. We couldn't believe the prices under the photographs of the houses in the pictures. Later Margie's cousin Emmy would comment "Most people who go on vacation buy a magnet. You bought a house". Actually that isn't quite correct. We discussed the prices and the weather in Nampa all the way home as we spent one night in a crappy hotel in Winnemucca and then the next night at the Silver Legacy in Reno. During the next 5 days we were approved for a home loan and started looking online and thru and agent at homes in Nampa. Less than two weeks after we left Nampa we were back there looking at homes new and old. We finally bought a house there. Since then we have started to pack up our 2 bedroom apartment so we can move into our 3 bedroom 2 bath house in Nampa. Our house payment including taxes and insurance will be $160 less than our rent in Rohnert Park. We will be leaving California on October 14th. Here are a few pictures of the 14 year old home we purchased. There was only one owner of this house, a little old lady who has since retired to a rest home. She took loving care of this house. All we need to move in is a Lawn Mower, A Snow Shovel, A Washing Machine (it came with a Clothes Drier) and a Garbage Can. Update: We moved in on October 29th, 2009 after much haggling with the Loan Underwriters. |
